Privacy Policy
DailyGlot ("we", "our", "us") is operated by Franco Molina. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the DailyGlot iOS application (the "App") and the dailyglot.com website (the "Site"), how we use it, and the rights you have over it. By using the App or the Site, you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and a password (stored hashed by our authentication provider). If you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique identifier and, if you authorize it, your email.
- Learning preferences. The language you are learning, your level (A1–B2), your native language, and the categories of news you have chosen.
- Saved content. Words you save, your streak, and any flashcards you create.
- Support correspondence. If you write to us at [email protected], we keep that correspondence.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Technical data. Device model, operating system version, App version, language and timezone settings, and crash diagnostics.
- Usage data. Which articles you opened, how long you spent on them, and which features you used — in aggregate, to improve the product.
1.3 Information we do not collect
We do not collect your contacts, your photos, your location, your microphone input, or any data unrelated to the language-learning function of the App.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and personalize the App — for example, by adapting article difficulty to your level.
- To generate the daily articles via our content provider (Anthropic).
- To synchronize your saved words, streak, and preferences across sessions.
- To diagnose bugs and improve performance.
- To communicate with you about the App, when you contact us first.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with data brokers.
3. Third-Party Services
We use a small set of third-party services strictly necessary to run the App:
- Supabase (database and authentication) — stores your account, preferences, saved words, and cached articles.
- Anthropic (Claude API) — generates the daily articles from real news sources. We do not send your personal data to Anthropic; only the language, level, and category parameters required to generate the day's articles.
- Apple — if you sign in with Apple and for App Store delivery.
- Railway — hosts the App's backend.
Each of these providers processes your information under their own privacy policies.
4. Data Retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Cached articles older than 30 days are automatically deleted. Crash diagnostics are retained for up to 90 days.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information at any time:
- Access and correction — through the App's Settings screen.
- Account deletion — through Settings → Delete account, or by writing to [email protected]. Deletion is permanent and removes all associated data within thirty days.
- Data portability — write to us and we will send you a copy of your data in a portable format within thirty days.
6. Children
DailyGlot is not directed at children under thirteen. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under thirteen. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data: encrypted transport (HTTPS), encrypted authentication tokens, and database-level access controls. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach that affects your data, we will notify you within 72 hours.
8. International Users
Our servers are operated in the United States and the European Union. By using the App, you consent to your information being processed in these regions.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the App. Continued use of the App after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Contact
Questions, requests, or complaints regarding this policy may be sent to [email protected].
